Elected president of the International Cooperative Alliance in November 2017, at the general assembly held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ariel Guarco is a cooperative leader who has contributed to the development of the cooperative movement since his youth.

His active participation in cooperativism was forged in the nineties from his insertion in the Coronel Pringles Electric Cooperative, a small city in the south of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After being elected to preside over that entity, in 2008 he became the highest authority of the Federation of Electric Cooperatives and Public Services of that province (Fedecoba).

In 2011, the organizations associated with the Cooperative Confederation of the Argentine Republic (Cooperar), the top body of Argentine cooperativism, elected him president.

In addition, between November 2014 and October 2018, he served as the second vice presidency of Cooperatives of the Americas.
